The company has worked on collaborative projects with the Artistic team of Mphatlalatsane theatre in delivering workshops to school and community youth, which all culminate to a performance.
In 2008 we established a great relationship with Khulisa Disability Network, which led to some of our staff being assigned in working with them teaching dance and using it under the consignment of the National Lottery Commission.
Delivery of the education and training programme is becoming a reliant on the core staff (MD & AD) to the company, training freelancers and company dancers. We’re looking at forming a foundation of a skilled pool of education and training artists who will be delivering specific educational projects.
LAA has also developed a schools holiday programme to best satisfy the latencies of our pupils and assessing their progress with specific outcomes in mind, providing them more options for their career choices.

Educational Programmes
Luthando Arts Academy articulates this vision by creating and performing original works, new dance theatre, and presenting an associated program of outreach activity of the highest quality.
Implicit within the vision is the Company’s mission to involve into a nationally and internationally recognised force for Contemporary African Dance and Music.
Through the funds allocated to the company, LAA has managed to purchase violins to further furnish the Academy in-house syllabus, thus commencing with the educational programme coherent to the cause-the company has, therefore, carried out open classes on saturdays spearheaded by management and the choicest of dance and music instructors.
In addition to performance work, Luthando Arts Academy undertakes a wide range of educational and community outreach work. LAA is currently working hand in hand with the department of education in putting together a policy for carefully selected schools in the Sedibeng East and west districts for the Arts and Culture subject as part of curriculum.
The company is working with Khutlo-Tharo Secondary School, Esokwazi High School and Mojala Thutho Secondary School in delivering workshops for schools and community youth, which has all culminated to a performance showcased for Africa Month in May 2016.
